I wonder what your experiences with harley benton guitars are. i dont trust the people on youtube, who are obviously bought by thomann. i also feel like they might get guitars with a better setup then the average customer would get.
why this topic?
around november last year i bought a used sc-450 gt (the one with the p90s) because it was a good deal (used) and it looks very nice. also had no p90s guitar, so i just wanted to give it a try. was playing around with it as a secondary guitar until it got replaced buy my old epiphone sg. it then collected a little dust in the corner of my room, because i would not play it, since 'something felt weird'. i felt like i could not do hammer ons properly on that guitar, chords would not ring as great and i would play more slow overall. no way to shred that guitar properly.
i then sanded down the neck... it was a bitch. the finishing is thicker then any finish i have sanded away in my life. so that made the neck considerably thinner, which is great. it also feels better. still have the problem with slow playing, chords and hammer ons.
yesterday i decided to fuck it and bough a fretfile. i then did a fret leveling. i noticed before, that almost all the frets were at different hights. intonation was quiete impossible to get right and the action was a little high.
after being done with the frets it is now a beautifully singing, fast playing guitar that can actually shred. intonation is on point and the action can be set extremely low.
am i the only harley benton user who came across the fret problem? did i get a particular bad one or do they never care for fretleveling? (which would be around 90 bucks in my local music store, used value of guitar was 75 :D) what improvements did you had to do to your HB? tell me, i am curious.
tl;dr: Harley Benton guitar had absolutly nothing done to the frets from the factory. did fretleveling, now its awsome.
